You might wonder what you can do in Dubai in a day. We are, after all, the right people to respond to this query. There are many indoor and outdoor activities to keep you occupied during your visit, and Dubai boasts year-round sunny weather. Here are some suggestions by Vigor Tourism to make the most out of your Dubai 1 Day Itinerary!
Is a day trip to Dubai worthwhile?
Dubai, which connects six continents, is a well-liked long-haul flight destination. In 2023, Dubai Airport was named the busiest international hub for the eighth year in a row.
If your stopover is going to be longer than eight hours, ensure your country’s visa requirements are met before leaving the airport and making the most of your time to explore the biggest city in the Arab Emirates.
Then there’s Dubai, where nearly every tourist attraction is vying for a spot in the Guinness World Records and new locations are springing up quicker than mushrooms following a downpour. Here, organizing a fantastic one-day excursion can seem nearly impossible!
Considering all of this, you should make every hour matter by attempting to see as many of Dubai’s famous landmarks as you can. To accomplish that, you must have a well-defined schedule to prevent the disappointment of traveling to a location only to discover it is closed or not worth the trip.
Gold Souq Deira
To enjoy your trip to Gold Souq, you don’t have to purchase much gold. We opted to indulge in window shopping solely for eye candy because we are budget travelers.
The Gold Souq is one of the most significant locations in Dubai, where you can find an endless supply of gold (about 10 tons of gold!) and other jewelry. Dubai has the lowest costs for gold, and you can be confident that the gold in the Gold Souq is genuine and of high quality.
Take pictures as you browse the stores, but do not miss the Najmat Taiba, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. At 63.8 kg, the Star of Taiba is the world’s heaviest ring and is estimated to be worth $3 million.
The Burj Khalifa
The Burj Khalifa, Dubai’s crown jewel, is the tallest free-standing structure in the world. When Emirates guests are asked what to do in Dubai in a single day in 2024, this is an obvious choice.
Why? Aside from its remarkable achievements, iconic reputation as a must-see landmark, and prominence as one of Dubai’s Instagram spots, one of the numerous ongoing projects that “shoot for the stars” may soon challenge the tower’s highest rating, literally and figuratively.
Fortunately, Burj Khalifa is guaranteed to remain one of the most famous sights in Dubai (and, who are we fooling, the world in general), regardless of the heights those future projects aspire to reach.
Your first objective for the day should be to choose one of the various viewpoints atop the Burj Khalifa if you only have 24 hours in Dubai and want to get the most comprehensive views of the Emirate. Despite the tower’s almost 800-meter length, not every floor is accessible to the general public.
Spice Market in Dubai
You can step back in time and experience a different century at the Spice Souq. There are mountains of multicolored spices and a multitude of fragrances. Toys, clothing, electronics, and dried fruits and vegetables are available here. Before making any purchases from this store, keep the following in mind:
Prices aren’t usually the lowest in the market, even though the Spice Market is a unique location worth visiting. Never buy anything without haggling. Purchase with caution, especially for more costly spices like saffron, as some salespeople tend to offer subpar goods.
Ask for the “negin” variety of saffron if you want the highest quality available. Some vendors may aggressively harass visitors, particularly single women, in an attempt to coerce them into visiting their store.
Dubai Mall
If you’re visiting Dubai with an oversized bag that’s half empty “just in case,” go directly to Dubai Mall as soon as your feet touch Emirati soil.
With its prime location next to Burj Khalifa, this enormous building is a shopping haven for gluttons! Since Dubai Mall is regarded as the biggest mall in the world, how are you unable to visit the location of this prominence?
The explanation is straightforward if you’re wondering why visiting a mall should be on your itinerary for your one day in Dubai. The outdoors can get extremely hot, especially during the summer, so you should stick to areas with air conditioning, which Dubai Mall has. In addition, there are a ton of activities available here besides shopping!
Yes, there is a significant amount of retail therapy to be had here, with establishments like Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale’s practically pleading with you to blow all of your hard-earned money on a brand-new Balenciaga bag or a pair of Chanel ballerina flats while you’re here, but that’s not all.
The Frame
The Frame is a famous 150-meter-tall building in Dubai. The attraction is moderately priced at 50 AED (~$13). You start by visiting the little museum to learn about Dubai’s past.
Second, you ascend to the top of the Frame by a glass-front lift. For a fantastic perspective of the city, it is worthwhile to stand by the window in the elevator.
You can walk on the glass floor at the top of the Frame, which turns transparent as you stand. Enjoy the breathtaking views of both Old and New Dubai, and remember to snap as many photos as you like.
Dubai Marina
Our particular favorite area in Dubai! It’s well situated near the shore, offering both beachside relaxation and access to city attractions. Always lively, always bustling with visitors and locals, and almost brimming with things to do, this is the destination for both the bohemian set and more relaxed vacationers.
Enjoy a preview of the beaches in the United Arab Emirates without committing to a full beach day at one of the few locations we have listed above! Aside from the bustling waterfront, Dubai Marina also has a very contemporary and urban area.
That being said, as you meander around the streets of Dubai Marina, you won’t only notice tall structures. Look toward Bluewaters Island, which is another artificial island in Dubai that was built immediately off the coast of the Marina.
